Computer Information Systems

Students can study Computer Information Systems at GCCC to prepare for a career in the field of computer science. The program will help students develop a diverse set of skills that include the fundamentals of software development and computer security. Students will learn everything from the basics of programming (including operating system,  networking, databases, algorithms, control structures, data types, data storage, files, and arrays to understanding the basics of cyber security.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook, many careers in the field of computer science, including Computer Support Specialists, are expected to grow by 11% through 2026. That is much faster than the national average for other career fields.

Class Sizes

Each semester, there are up to 24 students in each Computer Information Systems course held on the campus, giving you valuable one-on-one time with the instructor as well as an opportunity to develop relationships with classmates for additional support and learning

Advisement in the Cybersecurity program is provided directly by the computer science faculty.
