GCCC to Host Southwest Kansas Community Wind Ensemble Concert on April 2

[Garden City, KS] March 27, 2026 -- In conjunction with the Garden City Community College Music Department, the Southwest Kansas Community Wind Ensemble will present its premiere concert on Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. The performance will take place in the KCB Bank Auditorium inside the GCCC Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building and is free and open to the public.

The ensemble is comprised of GCCC music majors, area band directors, university professors, university students, and skilled community musicians, creating a dynamic and diverse musical collaboration.

With a level of musicianship comparable to many university wind ensembles, the group will debut an exciting program titled Dancing Skies. The concert promises an engaging evening of music under the direction of Christopher-Michael Johnson.

Audience members can expect a varied repertoire featuring works by renowned composers such as Shostakovich, Ticheli, Zdechlik, Bernstein, and more.
