GCCC Phi Theta Kappa Names Two Students to 2026 All-Kansas Academic Team

[Garden City, KS] March 10, 2026 -- Garden City Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter has named Emily Dryden and Alexa Escobedo to the 2026 All-Kansas Academic Team.

As members of the Alpha Xi Upsilon chapter of PTK, Dryden and Escobedo will be honored at a luncheon and ceremony in Garden City, on April 2, 2026. Kansas is one of 39 states participating in the All-State Academic Team program, which recognizes top-performing community college students.

The All-Kansas Academic Team is part of the national All-USA Community College Academic Team, which honors students for academic excellence, leadership, and community service. The program is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees, and Kansas community college presidents. Students nominated by their college are eligible for the All-USA Academic Team.

Emily Dryden is an Agricultural Business major from Holcomb, KS. She plans to transfer to West Texas A&M University. Emily’s parents are Brock and Heather Dryden.

Alexa Escobedo is a Psychology major from Garden City, KS. She plans to transfer to Wichita State University. Alexa’s parents are Albert Escobedo and Faviola Rodriguez.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the national honor society of the two-year college. Students must have at least a 3.5 GPA or better to be accepted to the organization. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students.
