Upcoming Firearms Training Courses at GCCC - Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4

[Garden City, KS] September 13, 2021 -- The Department of Public Safety at Garden City Community College will host three more firearm training courses this year.  Kansas Concealed Carry courses will be held on October 2nd and December 4th. A Basic Handgun course will be held on November 6th.

The Kansas Concealed Carry training course is required for all Kansas citizens who desire to apply for a Concealed Carry Handgun License.  Participants must know how to safely handle a handgun to take this course.  The training will be offered on October 2nd and December 4th from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  A $100 registration fee, which includes lunch, is required.  Participants must provide their own firearm, 60 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection. 

The Basic Handgun course is open to men, women, and children aged 16 or older who have a parent also enrolled in the class.  This eight-hour hands-on course covers the fundamentals of handgun operation.  It will be offered on November 6th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The $85 registration fee includes guns and ammo, and participants are encouraged to provide their own eye and ear protection.

Pre-registration and payment are required the Monday before each course to hold your spot.  The classroom portion of the trainings is held on the GCCC campus in the JCVT building, followed by the practical portion at the shooting range.
