Open Auditions - The Odd Couple: Female Version
Garden City Community College (GCCC) is proud to present The Odd Couple: The Female Version by Neil Simon, directed by William Schlichter. Performances will take place on November 7-8 at 7:00 p.m. and November 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the KCB Bank Auditorium.
Open auditions are scheduled in the KCB Bank Auditorium for:
- Tuesday, September 9th from 4:00–7:00 p.m.
- Thursday, September 11th from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Rehearsals will begin on September 25 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with schedules adjusted as needed to accommodate cast availability.
Auditions are open to all GCCC students and community members. No prepared monologues are required; participants should be ready for cold readings from the script. Paper audition forms will be available on-site. The cast includes six women and two men, ages 30 and older.
In addition to acting roles, opportunities are available for those interested in offstage work such as costuming, set construction, stage management, or choreography. Email William Schlichter or come to auditions to sign up for these roles.
The Female Odd Couple: Unger and Madison are at it again! Florence Unger and Olive Madison, that is, in Neil Simon's hilarious contemporary comic classic: the female version of The Odd Couple. The show focuses on these two women as they find their place in the world and workforce in 1980s New York City. Where Olive is messy, untidy, and unconcerned about the state of her apartment, Florence is obsessively clean, tidy, and obsessed with hygiene. Olive's easy-going outlook on life soon clashes with Florence's highly-strung neurotic tendencies, testing their friendship to the limit.
