GCCC to Offer Non-Credit Cookie Decorating Course on April 20th
[Garden City, KS] April 11, 2024 -- Garden City Community College will offer a non-credit "Cookie Decorating" course taught by Anna Peters on Saturday, April 20th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, in the Portico inside the GCCC Beth Tedrow Student Center (BTSC).
The course registration is $30/participant, and all ages are welcome, though an adult must accompany participants 13 and under. All materials will be provided, and each participant will decorate six spring-themed cookies to take home.

Instructor Biography:
I'm Anna Peters. My husband and I live in Cimarron, KS with our 3 kids, ages 19, 16 and 14. My oldest is a student at GCCC and my younger 2 are students at Cimarron JH/HS. I was a teacher for 9 years, 4 years uncertified while attending Newman University through outreach classes earning my degree, then 5 years as a certified teacher with 21st Century Learning Academy. In May 2021 after a very difficult couple of years I decided to open Anna's Cookies! Cookies were a hobby for me, I kept getting more and more requests to make them, so I thought, why not! I had no idea they would be loved so much! The business grew and so last May when 21st Century closed their doors I decided to continue cookies and put my teaching career on hold. I love being home for my kids, although they would say I am always busy. They say, do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. They're actually wrong! You'll probably work harder and a lot more, but there's so much joy in that. For the first time in my life I have no plan. I'm taking things day by day. I don't know what the future hold, or how long I'll continue this cookie venture but I do know this is where I need and want to be now. I have never taken any cooking or decorating classes. I am 100% self taught. I always enjoy being challenged, so I am always willing to try something new.
