GCCC Board of Trustees Meeting Recap July 15, 2025

[Garden City, KS] July 16, 2025 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in the Omar D. Angeles Endowment Room at GCCC.

The Board approved naming rights for the baseball field, which will now be known as Scooter’s Coffee Field at Williams Stadium. Scooter’s Coffee has been a strong supporter of GCCC for several years, contributing to numerous campus projects, including portions of the football and basketball video boards, the campus coffee shop, various athletic and student events, and most recently, a pledge toward the baseball video board.

GCCC President Dr. Ryan Ruda informed the Board that GCCC’s Student Support Services (SSS) grant, in place since 1993 and serving 200 students annually, was successfully renewed. Part of the federally funded TRIO programs, SSS supports students who are low-income, first-generation, or have a disability by providing services such as advising, tutoring, and mentoring. He thanked all who contributed to the grant’s renewal.

GCCC is required to notify the Finney County Clerk of its intentions regarding the Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR). The Board approved the intent to exceed the RNR. A public budget hearing is set for September 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. inside the Omar D. Angeles Endowment Room in the Beth Tedrow Student Center, Garden City Community College Campus.

The next regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Omar D. Angeles Endowment Room of the Beth Tedrow Student Center on the GCCC campus.
