GCCC Board of Trustees Developing New Trustee Orientation
[Garden City, KS] October 20, 2021 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees discussed and previewed a New Trustee Orientation webpage during the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
With the upcoming Finney County election featuring three GCCC Board of Trustees seats on the ballot, the current Trustees discussed ways to prepare new board members on the BOT processes. A webpage is being created on the GCCC site which will serve as a quick reference guide for both new and seasoned Trustees. This website page was previewed, and the Board discussed suggestions for improvement.
The New Trustee Orientation page will feature easily accessible information on board policies, code of ethics, financial overview, meetings calendar, accreditation information, and much more. A sit-down orientation will be held with any new Trustee and this webpage will serve as a supplement.
Additionally, the Board heard a presentation on Accreditation Updates and the GCCC Strategic Plan from the Vice-President for Instructional Services. A public comment was heard also heard by the Board.
Two executive sessions were held where no action was taken.
The next meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, November 9th at 6 p.m. in the Endowment Room at the Beth Tedrow Student Center.
