GCCC Board of Trustees Approve 2021-22 Fiscal Year Budget

[Garden City, KS] September 14, 2021 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees approved the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget as well as a Revenue Neutral Rate resolution during a special session on September 13th.

The Board approved a resolution to exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate.  During the 2021 Kansas legislative session, Senate Bill 13 was passed which defined the process for taxing entities when establishing and setting an annual budget.  The Board of Trustees shall exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate of 24.394 mills by approving a mill levy of 24.529 mills.  Since only estimated valuations are available now, with actual valuations coming in November 2021, the GCCC administration recommended exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate.

The Trustees approved and adopted the 2021-22 fiscal year budget.  In this, certifying the 2021 Tax to be levied at $11,800,104 (23.530 mills) and $501,011 for Capital Outlay (0.999 mills).  The proposed working budget for the combined General Fund and Post-Secondary Technical Education Fund for fiscal year 2021-22 is $20,501,369.

The Board of Trustees will meet in a regular session on Tuesday, September 14th at 6 pm in the Endowment Room of the Beth Tedrow Student Center.
