BOT Approves Contracts for Campus Improvement Projects

[Garden City, KS] April 14, 2021 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees approved multiple contracts for campus improvement projects during the regularly scheduled meeting on April 13th.

Project Contracts Approved:

  • Hydronic Water Pipe Replacement -- replacement of hot water hydronic pipe in main quad tunnels. Tatro Plumbing Co. Inc. won the bid at $145,861.00.
  • Mechanical Tunnel Cap Replacement -- replacement of concrete tunnel caps over the top of the tunnels once the pipe is replaced. Stamped and stained concrete will be added to the center quad for aesthetic improvement.  American Warrior Construction won the bid at $320,382.00.
  • Broncbuster Suites Roof Replacement -- replacement is required due to age related deterioration. D.V. Douglass Roofing won the bid at $181,000.00
  • DPAC Roof Replacement -- replacement is required due to age related deterioration. Weathercraft Roofing (Garden City) won the bid at $102,724.00.
  • West Hall Hot Water System Replacement -- installing two 130 gallon, 5000 MBH natural gas fired water heaters to replace the existing water heater that has reached its end of service life. Tatro Construction won the bid at $54,647.00.
  • West Hall HVAC Ventilation Upgrade -- updating and enhancing airflow and HVAC system. Tatro Construction won the bid at $537,900.00.
  • Computer Equipment Replacement -- faculty and staff will receive new laptops/desktops as part of institutional rotation. Lenovo (United States) won the bid at $418,057.80.
  • Access Point Installation -- Wi-Fi upgrade to install individual access points in classrooms and dorm rooms, expanding Wi-Fi access and reliability. CDW-G, (Chicago, Illinois) won the bid at $140,698.64.

These projects will transform GCCC and address deferred maintenance and capital improvements that have been on the Master Facilities plan.  Garden City Community College takes pride in preserving the integrity of the capital and physical investments made by Finney County taxpayers, and these projects will assist in preserving that investment of GCCC infrastructure.   

The Board members also unanimously voted for a one-year extension on the three-year contract for Dr. Ruda's presidential contract.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. in the President's Conference room.
