Policy Statement:
In keeping with the college mission, GCCC is committed to excellence in education, curriculum, programs and services offered by the college. This policy establishes the guidelines for implementing a learning assessment program to support excellence in education and enable accreditation of college programs. This policy applies to all academic and co-curricular programs.
Procedures:
Garden City Community College’s Learning Assessment Policy assigns the Student Learning Assessment Team (SLAT) responsibility for formulating and proposing assessment procedures and expectations for the College, and assigns the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning & Research the authority to implement and enforce these policies and procedures. Garden City Community College’s Learning Assessment Policy also establishes the institution’s five Essential Skills for all students — Written Communication, Oral Communication, Critical Thinking, Cultural Diversity, and Social Responsibility — as important targets for assessing the institution’s effectiveness in teaching and learning.
