GCCCA Announces 2022 GED Graduation on May 27th

[Garden City, KS] May 10, 2022 -- Garden City Career Connection Academy (GCCCA) will hold its 2022 graduation ceremony in the coming weeks. With over 400 students attending during this academic year, GCCCA provides instruction in English Language Acquisition (ELS) skills, citizenship, family literacy, digital literacy, and the General Equivalency Diploma (GED). The GCCCA also partners with Tyson Foods to offer classes to Tyson employees on campus at Garden City Community College or on site at the Tyson plant.

"This year has been a tremendously exciting year for the GCCCA," says Cary Conley, Director of Adult Education and Literacy. "We have persevered through Covid-19, seen an increase in enrollment, and expanded our offerings to other locations within the city such as East Garden Village. We are particularly thrilled that 50 GCCCA students will be graduating with their GED." According to a recent study by the National Center for Education Statistics, persons attaining a GED or high school diploma earned an average of $6,800 a year more than non-completers.

"The GED is equivalent to a high school diploma and can open doors for better employment, as well as allow access to financial aid should you choose to further your education beyond the GED," stated Conley.

The graduation ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 27th, 2022, in the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the campus of Garden City Community College.
