GCCC & FHSU to Host Cybersecurity STEM Summer Camp June 13-15

[Garden City, KS] April 24, 2023 --  A FREE three-day Cybersecurity STEM Summer Camp will be held June 13-15 from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM at Garden City Community College. The camp is open to high school juniors, seniors, and first-year GCCC students, and daily lunch will be provided. Students will investigate computer networking, cybersecurity, and programming through Minecraft. Registration is limited, so students are encouraged to register NOW: https://gcccks.formstack.com/forms/stem_summer_camp_2023.

The camp is a collaboration between Garden City Community College and Fort Hays State University. It is the second summer camp through GCCC’s Title III STEM Grant, a 5-year, $5 million grant. The grant funds three new programs at GCCC (Robotics, Cybersecurity, and Crop Production) and provides funding to build a STEM Success Center, a 10,000 square feet addition to the Warren Fouse Science and Math building. This center will add classroom, lab, office, and collaboration space dedicated to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and is on track to open for the Fall 2023 semester.
