GCCC Endowment Association Holds Annual Scholarship Celebration
[Garden City, KS] November 11, 2022 -- The Garden City Community College Endowment Association held its Scholarship Celebration on Thursday, November 10, 2022, inside the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex. The annual celebration serves as a time for scholarship recipients and scholarship donors to socialize and enjoy a meal together. The total number of students in attendance was 69, along with 58 donors and GCCC staff and administration, and 8 staff and board members from the Endowment Association.
Additionally, the GCCC Endowment Association presented an award for 2022 Outstanding Service, which is given to a business in recognition of its support of the Endowment Association. This year the award was presented to Klaus Wood Pellets & Outdoor Living. Since opening in downtown Garden City in 2018, Klaus Wood Pellets and Outdoor Living have been serving southwest Kansas by providing high-quality grills, grilling supplies and outdoor furniture. They have partnered with the Garden City Community College in many ways, one of which is being the exclusive dealer of Buster Red Meats. They have also been ardent supporters of the GCCC Endowment Association by providing auctions items every year. Ryan, Kenny, Kevin, Rob, and Marcy have developed a special relationship with GCCC and the Endowment Association.
Jeff Mitchell, Executive Director, shared his thoughts on the event, "The event is special to the Endowment Association because both donors and students get to know one another. Scholarships are no longer a name in a list of financial aid the students receive. People they have personally met are now attached to those scholarships. It was a joy to have this be my first major event as the Executive Director."
