GCCC BOT Hears Non-Academic Program Review for Business Office
[Garden City, KS] December 13, 2023 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees heard a non-academic program review from the Business Office during the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
The Board heard a non-academic program review for the Business Office highlighting a department overview, institutional data, and advancements from the past five years. The review included successes and opportunities for future growth for the department.
Trustees Shanda Smith, David Rupp, and Dr. Merilyn Douglass presented a recap of the National Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) conference they attended with GCCC President Dr. Ryan Ruda in October. Each discussed takeaways from the sessions and possible ways to implement new initiatives at GCCC, with no action being taken at this time.
President Ruda updated the Board on the newly launched Buster Finish Line program, an initiative that supports former students in completing their degrees. This program provides up to 19 credit hours tuition-free for qualified students to return to GCCC and cross the finish line with their degree. He encouraged those who believe they qualify to fill out the interest form on the GCCC website: https://www.gcccks.edu/admissions/buster_finish_line.aspx.
As it was her final meeting as a Trustee, Beth Tedrow was presented with a plaque honoring her past four years serving on the Board of Trustees as well as her many years of service to GCCC.
