Garden City Career Connection Academy to hold GED Graduation on June 2nd
[Garden City, KS] May 22, 2023 -- Garden City Career Connection Academy (GCCCA) will hold its 2023 GED graduation ceremony on Friday, June 2nd at 10:00 AM in the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex on the Garden City Community College campus.
With over 500 students attending this academic year, GCCCA provides instruction in English Language Acquisition (ELA) skills, citizenship, family literacy, digital literacy, and the General Equivalency Diploma (GED). The GCCCA also partners with Tyson Foods to offer classes to Tyson employees on campus at Garden City Community College or on-site at the Tyson plant.
"We have seen tremendous enrollment growth this year at GCCCA," says Cary Conley, Director of Adult Education and Literacy. "We are excited to have helped so many students. We are also pleased to have been able to expand our services into the surrounding counties by delivering remote learning using iPads through an innovative partnership with T-Mobile Business Solutions. We are particularly thrilled that over 50 GCCCA students will be graduating with their GED."
According to a recent study by the National Center for Education Statistics, persons attaining a GED or high school diploma earned an average of $6,800 a year more than non-completers. "The GED is equivalent to a high school diploma and can open doors for better employment, as well as allow access to financial aid should you choose to further your education beyond the GED," stated Conley.
