GCCC to Offer Non-Credit Cookie Decorating Course on April 15th
[Garden City, KS] April 6, 2023 -- Garden City Community College will offer a non-credit "Cookie Decorating 1" course taught by Sarah Bennett on Saturday, April 15th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, in the Portico inside the GCCC Beth Tedrow Student Center (BTSC).
The course registration is $40/person and the class is suitable for beginners of all ages, though an adult must accompany students 16 and under. All materials will be provided, and each registered participant will leave with 6 decorated sugar cookies.
The course will cover:
- Learn how to make royal icing
- How to pipe border and flood Sugar Cookies
- Learn Wet on Wet icing technique
- Easter themed decorations
Sarah Bennett was the Baker for Great Western Dining at GCCC for 5 years. Over the years at GCCC, she had the pleasure of baking for graduations, birthdays, weddings, Christmas parties, and the Centennial Celebration in 2019. She is completely self-taught and has learned through success and failures over the past few years. The most valuable lesson baking has taught her is patience. Patience with herself and her recipes. She is now looking to pass on a bit of her baking knowledge in hopes that it will help others bring out the sweetness in life!
