GCCC to Host Second Stop of Listening Tour in Scott City on Feb. 20th
[Garden City, KS] January 23, 2025 -- Representatives from Garden City Community College (GCCC) are set to host the second session of the “Building Community Connections: GCCC Listening Tour” in Scott City, Kansas. The event will take place on Thursday, February 20th, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center, located at 212 E. 5th Street.
This initiative aims to strengthen relationships with local school districts and community stakeholders by fostering open dialogue, gaining insights into regional needs, and sharing updates about GCCC. Community members are invited to attend, and complimentary coffee will be provided, courtesy of Security State Bank.
Dr. Ryan Ruda, President of GCCC, shared that the listening tour was inspired by his “Coffee with the President” events in Garden City, which highlighted the value of direct engagement with the community.
“Through these visits, we aim to create a space for town hall-style discussions where we can connect with stakeholders, listen to their priorities and concerns, and identify ways that Garden City Community College can better serve them,” Dr. Ruda said.
He further emphasized the importance of these connections, stating, “This listening tour is about fostering open and constructive dialogue. By understanding the unique opportunities and challenges of each community in our service area, we can gather invaluable feedback to shape the future of GCCC together.”
The tour's first stop was successfully held in Lakin, KS, last year. This initiative continues to build meaningful connections with local communities across the GCCC service area.
