GCCC Theatre to Hold Open Auditions for Fall Production September 11-12
[Garden City, KS] September 6, 2023 -- Garden City Community College Theatre will hold open auditions for the fall production of THE PILLOWMAN in the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Auditorium on Monday and Tuesday, September 11 and 12, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to audition regardless of experience, and those who cannot attend the audition can contact the director for alternative times.
THE PILLOWMAN, the Tony Award-nominated play from screenwriter/director Martin McDonagh (IN BRUGES, THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING MISSOURI, THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN) tells the story of Katurian, a traumatized author who projects his troubled childhood into his unpublished short stories. He finds himself being brutally interrogated by officers of his totalitarian government, however, when the impossible happens -- someone out in the community is committing the terrible acts that previously only existed in Katurian's unread stories, and the men who have arrested him will stop at nothing to figure out his connection to the horror. Grim, funny, daring, and bizarrely hopeful, THE PILLOWMAN has been produced to rave reviews from Broadway to the West End.
Interested actors should prepare a serious monologue to perform and be willing to cold read from selected script pages. Timeslots are on a first come basis, and those auditioning should remain at the audition to read scenes with acting partners after the monologues have been performed.
THE PILLOWMAN contains mature content: interested actors should be comfortable with adult language and dark themes. Questions about auditions can be sent to director Dr. Joshua Kelly at joshua.kelly@gcccks.edu.
