Program Overview
The Secondary Education program at Garden City Community College prepares students to become effective and inspiring middle school and high school teachers. Students develop the instructional skills and subject knowledge needed to teach in areas such as math, science, history, or English.

Teaching Skills and Classroom Preparation
Coursework explores educational psychology, classroom management, and diverse learning styles. Students build strategies for engaging learners while strengthening expertise in their chosen academic subject area.

Associate in Science - 60 credit hours

EDSE.AS: We offer focus areas in Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Physical Education, depending on the area you are passionate about teaching in grades 7-12.

Scholarship

Kansas Promise Scholarship Eligible
This program qualifies for the Kansas Promise Scholarship, giving you the opportunity to earn a degree or certificate at little to no cost.

The Kansas Promise is a “last-dollar” scholarship that covers tuition, fees, books, and other program-related expenses not already paid by other scholarships or grants. It’s available to eligible Kansas students enrolled in high-demand programs. In return, recipients agree to live and work in Kansas for two years after completing their program.
