Program Overview
The English and Literature program at Garden City Community College builds strong
communication, critical thinking, research, and writing skills that prepare students
for a wide range of careers. Whether students are interested in literature, creative
writing, technical communication, or teaching English at the secondary level, this
program provides a strong academic foundation.
Experienced Faculty and Course Options
Students learn from a department that includes five faculty members, including published
writers. With ten literature courses and a variety of related electives, students
can tailor their studies to match their interests and transfer goals.
Support for Student Success
The program includes language-acquisition support sections within the composition
sequence to help ensure all students have the tools they need to succeed in college-level
writing.
Transfer-Ready Pathway
Designed for seamless transfer, the program prepares students to continue into a Bachelor
of Arts degree in English or a related field at a four-year university.
