GCCC to Offer Non-Credit Cookie Decorating Course on November 2nd

[Garden City, KS] October 14, 2024 -- Garden City Community College is excited to announce an upcoming non-credit, fall-themed cookie decorating class led by Anna Peters. This interactive and creative class will take place on Saturday, November 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the Beth Tedrow Student Center (BTSC) Portico on the GCCC campus. Participants of all ages are invited to join, but those 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

In this hands-on class, participants will decorate six fall-themed cookies to take home, with all materials provided. The course fee is $30 per person, and the class requires a minimum of 6 participants with a maximum capacity of 30. Online registration is open until 5:00 pm on November 1. Instructor Biography:

I'm Anna Peters. My husband and I live in Cimarron, KS with our 3 kids, ages 19, 16 and 14. My oldest is a student at GCCC and my younger 2 are students at Cimarron JH/HS. I was a teacher for 9 years, 4 years uncertified while attending Newman University through outreach classes earning my degree, then 5 years as a certified teacher with 21st Century Learning Academy. In May 2021 after a very difficult couple of years I decided to open Anna's Cookies! Cookies were a hobby for me, I kept getting more and more requests to make them, so I thought, why not! I had no idea they would be loved so much! The business grew and so last May when 21st Century closed their doors I decided to continue cookies and put my teaching career on hold. I love being home for my kids, although they would say I am always busy. They say, do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. They're actually wrong! You'll probably work harder and a lot more, but there's so much joy in that. For the first time in my life I have no plan. I'm taking things day by day. I don't know what the future hold, or how long I'll continue this cookie venture but I do know this is where I need and want to be now. I have never taken any cooking or decorating classes. I am 100% self taught. I always enjoy being challenged, so I am always willing to try something new.
