The National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) has a wide variety of information about the academic advising field. They host conferences and training institutes for anyone wanting to get more training in this field, they have published lots of books which you can order to learn more, or you can make use of their Clearinghouse which has links to free information on just about any topic you could think of related to academic advising.
The Kansas Academic Advising Network will keep you informed on upcoming workshops and conferences in Kansas, as well as allow you to network with fellow advisors.
The Pennsylvania State University Division of Undergraduate Studies publishes an online journal called The Mentor with articles on academic advising.
