GCCC Music Department Invites Public to Join Community Choir and Orchestra
[Garden City, KS] January 24, 2024 -- The Garden City Community College Music Department would like to invite the public to join the Community Choir and Orchestra, which is a collaboration between the Garden City Civic Orchestra and the Southwest Kansas Chorale. This group is open for all community members to sing in the choir, play in the orchestra, or both. Rehearsals will occur every other Sunday afternoon at GCCC, with the first meeting on Sunday, January 28th.
"We are excited to announce that the Southwest Kansas Chorale and the Garden City Civic Orchestra will be having a Spring Concert in May," shared Sean Boller, GCCC Associate Professor of Vocal Music Choir. "The GCCC Music Department believes that music should be intergenerational, and we encourage our students to continue to be involved after college. We want to invite all community members to join us."
The orchestra meets from 3-4 PM at the Broncbuster Band Building, and the choir meets from 4-5 PM in the Choir Room at the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building. Rehearsals will take place on the following Sundays: January 28th, February 11th, February 25th, March 10th, March 24th, April 14th, April 28th, and May 12th. A dress rehearsal will be held on Monday, May 20th, followed by the spring concert on Tuesday, May 21st.
