GCCC Endowment Association Announces Madison Paige Huber Memorial Nursing Scholarship
[Garden City, KS] September 26, 2025 -- The Garden City Community College Endowment Association is proud to announce the Madison Paige Huber Memorial Nursing Scholarship, established by the Huber family to honor Madison’s life and memory.
Madison Paige Huber, daughter of Mitchell and Meghan Huber, was born eight weeks early in January 2019 alongside her surviving twin sister, Savanna. Though Madison passed away at just three months old, she spent her entire life surrounded by extraordinary love and care given to her by her nurses. Her family has chosen to honor her nurses’ compassion and exceptional skills by giving back to the nursing community.
“During Madison’s much too short life, she was cared for by some of the most wonderful human beings we have ever known — her NICU and PICU nurses at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Many of them remain close friends of our family, even years later. To honor the selfless gift of time, love and compassion our nurses poured into Madison and her medical care, we have chosen to give back to the nursing community. Establishing this scholarship in her memory is our way of helping future nurses continue the same legacy of care that meant so much to us,” said Meghan Huber, Madison’s mother.
The Madison Paige Huber Memorial Nursing Scholarship will support students enrolled in the GCCC Nursing program who maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, with preference given to those pursuing neonatal and pediatric nursing in Kansas. By supporting nursing students, the scholarship ensures that Madison’s memory will continue to inspire compassion and care in future generations of caregivers.
Those wishing to help grow the Madison Paige Huber Memorial Nursing Scholarship can make a gift online through the GCCC Endowment Association at www.gcccendowment.com/giving or by mailing a check to the GCCC Endowment Association at 801 Campus Drive, Garden City, KS 67846 and including the scholarship name in the memo. Your support will ensure that Madison’s legacy continues to impact future nursing students for years to come.
An endowed scholarship is a lasting legacy in which the principal remains invested, with a portion of the return used each year to provide student support. To learn more about creating an endowed scholarship, contact the GCCC Endowment Association at 620-276-0412 or endowment@gcccks.edu.
