GCCC Board of Trustees Meeting Recap March 18, 2025
[Garden City, KS] March 24, 2025 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees met during a regularly scheduled meeting on March 18, 2025, in the Omar D. Angeles Endowment Room at GCCC.
The Board heard two presentations: one from C&C Group, which updated the Board on the ongoing upgrades to campus building control systems and realized savings, and the other from the City of Garden City, which updated the Board on the Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID).
The Board of Trustees approved updates to tuition, fees, and room and board rates for the 2025-2026 academic year. These adjustments ensure continued affordability while maintaining high-quality education and services for all students.
For Finney County residents, the Board approved holding tuition flat with no increase. For other student categories, the following tuition adjustments were approved:
- In-state (outside Finney County): +$2 per credit hour
- Border state: +$3 per credit hour
- Out-of-state: +$3 per credit hour
- International: +$5 per credit hour
- Online: no increase
Additionally, student fees will increase by $5 per credit hour to strengthen student resources. Of this amount, $3 will support expanded scholarship opportunities, and $2 will enhance technology services.
The Board also approved room and board rate adjustments. Board rates will increase by 4% in alignment with CPI adjustments under the Great Western Dining contract. Room rate updates will provide funding for deferred maintenance, facility upkeep, and housing improvements. The approved annual increases are as follows: West Hall (+$425), East Hall (+$400), and Apartments, Houses, and Suites (+$500 each).
Additionally, the Board approved an amendment to increase the 2024-25 Capital Outlay Budget to give GCCC budget authority to properly classify the remodel of the Spruce Street Technical Center Building as a capital outlay project. This does not change the levy for the 2024-25 Capital Outlay fund.
One executive session was held and no action was taken.
The next meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Omar D. Angeles Endowment Room in the Beth Tedrow Student Center, Garden City Community College Campus.
