GCCC Board of Trustees Hears Updates on Enrollment and Strategic Plan

[Garden City, KS] October 9, 2024 -- The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees heard updates on fall enrollment and the college’s strategic plan during the regularly scheduled meeting on October 8, 2024.

The Board received an update on the college's strategic plan, including data on key performance indicators that track various aspects of the plan. Additionally, a five-year review of the Biology department was presented, covering a program overview, enrollment statistics, achievements over the past five years, and opportunities for future advancement.

During the President’s Report, Dr. Ryan Ruda informed the Board that the official fall enrollment numbers were very positive. These figures, provided by the Kansas Board of Regents based on the 20th-day certification—a “snapshot” of enrollment—show that GCCC’s headcount increased by 7.44% compared to last fall, with credit hours up by 6.90%. The total number of students for fall 2024 is 2,136, enrolled in a total of 22,959 credit hours. “This is the largest enrollment of credit hours we’ve seen since 2016,” President Ruda stated. “With enrollment ongoing and additional sessions starting soon, Garden City Community College is on track to achieve the largest enrollment in our history.”

Two executive sessions were held where no action was taken.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the Omar D. Angeles Endowment Room in the Beth Tedrow Student Center, Garden City Community College Campus.
