Garden City Community College Sees Significant Enrollment Growth for Fall 2024
[Garden City, KS] October 3, 2024 -- Garden City Community College (GCCC) is excited to report significant enrollment growth for Fall 2024. Total student headcount has risen by an impressive 7.44%, bringing the total to 2,136 students, while credit hours have increased by 6.90%, reaching 22,959. These remarkable results highlight GCCC's ongoing dedication to student success and solidify its reputation as a leader in higher education.
This growth is particularly noteworthy when compared to statewide trends. According to data from the Kansas Board of Regents, state universities saw an average headcount increase of 2.3%, while community colleges experienced a 5.9% rise. GCCC’s ability to outperform these state averages reinforces its position as a top choice for students locally, nationally, and internationally.
“We’re incredibly proud to see such substantial growth in both headcount and credit hours this fall,” said Dr. Ryan Ruda, GCCC President. “This success is the result of a collaborative effort—strategic enrollment management planning, program expansion, and focused initiatives on dual credit enrollment have all contributed. However, it’s ultimately the people who make the difference. I’m deeply grateful to our dedicated employees, who work tirelessly to meet our mission, ensure our students succeed, and help to meet business and industry needs.”
GCCC continues to serve as a cornerstone for local and regional education, with 67.4% of its student population coming from Finney County and 79% originating from within Kansas. In addition to strong local representation, GCCC's student body is further enriched by individuals from 38 other states and 35 countries worldwide, reflecting the institution’s growing influence and appeal beyond state borders.
