GCCC Adult Learning Center ESL Program

Helping The World Communicate

The ESL program is for adults who want to learn English while receiving education in life skills, work skills, civics and basic technology. These classes help teach individuals how to live in the Western Civilization.

The classes are conducted three times a day at two locations for the convenience of the students. Classes are Monday through Thursday, see schedule below for times. There are four levels of education allowing each student to receive proper help. Level four is a bridge class helping students who want to further their education.

Each session begins with a two-day orientation.

Summer 2015 session is July 8th & 9th.

Fall 2015 sessions are August 18th & 19th and October 5th & 6th.

Winter 2016 sessions are January 6th & 7th and February 24th & 25th.

Spring 2016 sessions are April 6th & 7th and May 23rd & 24th.

Prospective students may enroll anytime. There is no fee for the class; however there is a $50.00 material fee due annually. Students are tested at the end of each session.

Each instructor carries credential and is state certified.

Placement Testing

TABE Testing

TABE® is one of the most comprehensive and reliable assessment product in the education industry, providing a solid foundation for effectively assessing the skills and knowledge of adult learners.

TABE and TABE CLAS–E™ combine to provide a flexible system of diagnostic assessments and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of today's growing adult education programs.

The TABE tests are a REQUIREMENT OF THIS PROGRAM. You will not be allowed to take your OFFICIAL GED EXAMS until you have taken a TABE Post-Test.

Program Prep Exam

You MUST pass a preparation exam in each subject before the official GED exams. These tests are known as the AZTEC or the GEDReady tests.

Official GED Tests

Once all official practice tests are passed, you will complete your Official GED Exam registration, required by the Kansas Board of Regents. Once approved, you can schedule your official tests. YOU MUST TAKE YOUR OFFICIAL GED TESTS IN ENGLISH FOR THIS PROGRAM.
