Smoking Ordinance:

The smoking ban entrance recommendation was discussed and finalized. The following will be the committee’s recommendation:

RECOMMENDATION ON SMOKING BAN ENTRANCES

The fiscal & physical committee has reviewed each building relating to the smoking ban ordinance and has the following recommendation:

It is recommended that the following buildings could have all entrances marked with “no smoking within 50 feet” signs: STUDENT & COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER ACADEMIC SCIENCE/MATH PENKA FINE ARTS LIBRARY DENNIS PERRYMAN ATHLETIC CENTER RESIDENTIAL LIFE APARTMENTS

The following buildings could have a designated entrance where smoking might be allowed: ANNEX = 1 possible door located on the northwest corner MAINTENANCE = 1 possible door located on the northwest corner VOCATIONAL = 1 possible door at the southwest corner and 1 possible door at the northwest corner BETH TEDROW STUDENT CENTER = 1 possible door located on the southwest side, exit from the snack bar RESIDENTIAL LIFE DORMS = 1 door at ground level on the north end of each dorm building On the above buildings, all other entrances would be marked “no smoking within 50 feet.”

It is recommended that “no smoking within 50 feet” decal signs be posted on one entrance side and one exit side of each entrance.

The committee also recommends where possible that smoking ashtrays and/or benches be moved to an area 50 feet from the marked entrances at an aesthetically pleasing location and one that will also be convenient for grounds maintenance.

Next meeting is scheduled for 2pm Thursday, Feb. 15.
