TLC Policies

September 2007

The TLC was established to facilitate quality instruction on the campus of GCCC. Thus, technology use should, first and foremost, enhance the goals of the TLC.

1.             Budget & expenditures

a.    Faculty Senate will determine budget amounts at the beginning of each school year.

b.    The Faculty Senate chair will approve all purchases of supplies and equipment, taking the matter to the full senate as deemed necessary.

2.             Printer Use

a.    The color laser printer can be used by any faculty member for special projects that can not be completed efficiently at the Print Shop.

b.    For 11 X 17 size posters, faculty is asked to bring paper from the copy machines in their own buildings so the paper the will be billed to the appropriate division.

3.             DVD/CD copier

a.    Individuals using the copier are asked to provide their own DVDs or CDs and to abide by GCCC copyright guidelines.

4.             Equipment Check-Out Policies

a.    Technology in the TLC is purchased for short-term checkout in order to maximize its usefulness. Long-term technology needs should be purchased by departments.

                                               i.     If any exceptions need to be made to the check-out length provided, approval needs to be given by the TLC coordinator.

ii.     Library staff will send out weekly over-due email reminders.

b.    All items must be checked out by scanning into the Follett system, either by TLC staff or by library staff (Carol Heineman is point person; however, any library staff members can check out material). Only TLC and Library staff are to lock and unlock the TLC.

c.     Check-out Priority

                                               i.     Faculty members have first priority to all technology in the TLC for classroom instruction.

ii.     If an item is not reserved for classroom instruction, the second priority is for instructional purposes, i.e. presentations, trainings, etc.

iii.     If not checked out for the above purposes, the materials are available for other short-term uses such as conferences.

d.    If a piece of equipment is removed from a system such as the CPS cart, it should be reassembled so that the next person who checks it out will find it in working order.
