GCCC Launches Automatic Payment Plan to Help With College Costs
Option designed to offer ease and convenience for students enrolling in classes for new semester
Garden City Community College has launched a new automatic payment plan option to make the process of paying tuition and fees easier for students.
Offered in partnership through a national provider, Nelnet Business Solutions, the program is open to anyone who wants to participate.
“The plan allows students to set up their own individual, automatic payment plans at the time they enroll,” said Dee Wigner, vice president. “They can use it to establish a monthly installment plan for educational expenses they incur at GCCC, as well as for any existing balances they might have with us.”
With a $25 semester participation fee, a student can set up payment plans through a credit card, a debit card or through his or her bank. Payments will then be processed on the 20th of each month until the full balance is paid. The program is interest-free.
The service is available whether or not a student is receiving scholarships, grants, loans or other college financial assistance.
Enrollment in the plan is available after logging in under the “Current Students” icon at www.gcccks.edu, the college website. Information is also available from the GCCC Admissions Office or Business Office at the Student and Community Services Center.
The earlier a student signs up, the more payment options he or she will be able to select from.
Classes in the 2012 fall semester are scheduled to get under way Aug. 22, and enrollment is available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, as well as 8 a.m. to noon Fridays at the SCSC.
Class schedules are available there too, and course opportunities may also be viewed at www.gcccks.edu, under “Search for Classes.” Numbers to call for information include 620-276-9608 at the Admissions Office or 620-276-7611, which is the main campus line.
For Finney County and other Kansas students, GCCC tuition is $50 per credit hour and student fees are $27 per credit hour for the upcoming fall term. For out-of-state students, tuition is $70 per credit hour and fees are $27 per credit hour, and there are also new rates of $65 and $27 for individuals from nearby states, including Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. For international students, tuition is $90 per credit hour and fees are $27 per credit hour.
In addition to the automatic payment plan, scholarship assistance is available for qualified applicants, and GCCC participates in all the major federal student grant and loan programs.
