Admission Procedures

To be admitted into the Ag Tech program requires 3 things. First you must be eligible for a degree at GCCC, that is you must have a high school diploma or GED. Second, you must have a sponsoring dealer and a signed dealer agreement. The agreement is at the end of this page. Third, you must pass the entrance exam and be accepted by the John Deere Company.

A few words about the sponsoring dealer. Try to sponsor close to home if possible. This will help defray living expenses when you are completing your Internships.

For more information go to Admissions on our website.

Entrance Testing Process

The first step in the testing process is to contact GCCC and make an appointment to test. You can do that by calling 1-800-658-1696 or e-mailing Admissions. Prior to the test you will be asked to fill out an Application for Admission. Then you will be given a series of 4 tests. They are the Numerical Skills, Reading, and Writing tests that all full time students take to help in proper placement for success at our College. The fourth test is the Mechanical Reasoning or DAT test.

Selection Procedures

After you have completed the Application for Admission, have taken the Entrance exam, and we have a signed Dealer Agreement in hand, your scores will be submitted to John Deere. The sponsoring dealer and you will receive a letter with the results. At this point, if accepted, you will be officially in the Ag Tech program.

JOHN DEERE DEALER/STUDENT INTERVIEW AND AGREEMENT

This is an agreement between the sponsoring John Deere dealer and the student, both of which must sign below to validate this document.

The John Deere dealer agrees to provide the student with uniforms. The dealer also agrees to appoint a coordinator, usually the service manager, to serve as liaison between the dealership and Garden City Community College. The dealer will also provide the student with employment during those periods when the student is not attending GCCC but is still part of the John Deere Ag Tech program. Whenever possible, the work assignments will be a reflection of the most recent classroom experience. The wages during the employment periods will be agreed to by both parties, but will not be less than minimum wage.

The student agrees to adhere to college policies as set forth in the student handbook. The student agrees to maintain a C average. The student agrees to wear the uniforms provided by the dealer while attending class. The student also agrees to provide the dealer with responsible and productive work while at his dealership. The student agrees to work in a safe and prudent manner at all times during his student tenure. The student agrees to allow Garden City Community College to share his or her educational records and information concerning the John Deere Ag-Tech program with John Deere Company and the Dealer organization.

This agreement may be terminated because of a student's failing performance at the dealer's discretion.

This agreement may also be terminated because of the student's failure to meet John Deere's entrance requirements.
