On Saturday, April 26, Garden City Community College’s Department of Public Safety will sponsor its Seventh Annual Ride for the Future Scholarship Fundraiser beginning at 9 a.m. at the Bible Christian Church, 1501 E. Mary Street in Garden City.

Proceeds from the ride go toward scholarships for GCCC fire, emergency medical services technology, and criminal justice students.

“This scholarship run is an opportunity for all riders to network with emergency responders who will be acting as our hosts along our ride route,” said Linda Morgan, GCCC director of public safety and criminal justice instructor. “These scholarships are for our future public safety professionals.”

Entry donation for motorcycle and vehicle drivers is $30 and a driver/passenger combo is $50. Both packages include a 2013 rocker, RTF ride shirt, one tally card, and one game ticket. Early registration is encouraged and may be done online at www.team-t.org.

“The route this year leaves Garden City with first bikes out at 10:30 and they head to Ulysses where the Grant County Public Service Providers are hosting a donation lunch around 11:30 a.m.,” said Morgan. “Then it’s on to Hugoton, then to Sublette, and back to Garden City where games of skill will be set up for those who want to participate. The skill games and ride and door prizes will be given out around 3:30 p.m. back at the church.”
