There’s still time to buy advance admission for “All Ducked Out,” the 36th Annual Garden City Community College Endowment Association Scholarship Auction, which is set for Friday, April 4 with doors set to open at 6 p.m. at the Finney County Exhibition Building.

The auction usually attracts 1,000 to 1,200 people for an evening of entertainment and competitive bidding. Admission will be by wristband and the cost is $25 per person. Wristbands will not be sold at the door and admission must be purchased in advance.

The doors will open to wristband wearers at 6 p.m. the evening of the sale, with a 300-item silent auction beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by the main event, a 100-item live auction, getting under way at 7:30 p.m. The auction is conducted by Scott Auction of Garden City.

Admission wristbands are on sale at the Endowment Association office in the GCCC Student and Community Services Center, Keller Leopold Insurance, 302 Fleming, Kinney Glass, 415 N. Eighth, Garnand Fine Furniture, 1401 E. Kansas Avenue, Skeeter’s Body Shop, 3104 W. Jones Avenue, and Western Honda at 309 E. Fulton Street.

The association is also conducting a donation drawing for a 2014 Honda CRV EX-L. The $50 tickets in the car drawing are available in the same locations as the wristbands, with the winner’s name to be drawn at the conclusion of the auction among 13 finalists and one need not be present to win. The white diamond pearl CRV EX-L is on display at Western Honda.

The silent auction items donated by individuals and businesses throughout the area now number well over 200. A few examples that will be up for bid include two Exploration Place guest passes, a wine tray and assorted wine food products and wares, two chairs and a coffee table, Kansas City Royals baseball tickets with parking pass, two Kansas Cosmosphere & Space Center all day passes, and a certificate for five dozen hickory smoked bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese.

In the live auction, attendees can bid on tickets to the award-winning rock musical “Rock of Ages” at the Buell Theater in Denver, a Crown Royal quilt donated by Cindy Booth, a junior fireman gift package from FAO Schwartz that includes a vintage pedal-car fire truck, children’s fireman uniform and the purchaser’s family will get to go to the Garden City Fire Department to have dinner with the firefighters, have a tour of the facilities and then take a ride on the fire engine, a NASCAR package donated by Skeeter’s Body Shop that includes seating for two in the Kansas Speedway’s Sky Tower section with wait staff service of food and drink and parking passes for three races, a diamond infinity bracelet donated by Linenberger Jewelry, a Louisiana grill given by Big L Sales and C-Bar H, and a Kincaid dining room table and chairs donated by Garnand Fine Furniture just to name a few.

In addition to the bidding, auction goers can try their luck in a casino pit-style fish bowl drawing with 10 items. There will also be an additional donation drawing that offers the prize of a Vegas round-trip giveaway.

Beverages will be complimentary throughout the evening and John Ross & Co. Signature Catering will be providing a Cajun catfish fry with ham and chicken gumbo, dirty red beans and rice, coleslaw, and sweet honey cornbread for $15.
