
Academic Challenge Team - This organization is an interscholastic
competition team that competes with other community

Association of Nursing Students -
The association is comprised of all students enrolled
in nursing education courses leading to licensure as
a registered nurse. The purpose of the association
is to act as an information group in the field of study;
stimulate interest in the field of health careers and

social and educational, for present and future nursing

Athletics - The college sponsors
intercollegiate participation in football, baseball,
basketball, cross country, track and field, and rodeo
for men, and volleyball, basketball, rodeo, softball,
cross country, track and field for women. The college
is a member of the Kansas
Jayhawk Community College Conference and the National
Junior College Athletic Association.
The athletic program is designed to
provide competition in sports for any student who can
qualify for the teams and who meets college, conference

Band/Instrumental
Music - Membership
in the band is open to all students for one hour of
credit per semester. Previous band experience, a desire
to contribute to campus life, enthusiasm and pride
are requirements for prospective band members. The
Broncbuster Band plays for all home football and basketball
games. The band, with the other college musical organizations,
makes an annual tour of Southwest Kansas high schools

Bilingual Education Student
Organization - BESO is an organization in many universities throughout
the
U.S.
The organization
was
founded in
the early 1980s by bilingual education students who
wanted to form a group that was both community service
oriented and supportive of the professional growth
of members.
BESO promotes social, cultural and linguistic awareness
at GCCC and in Kansas communities. The organization
practices English language learning skills within the
community by volunteering in schools and serving as
a reference/support group for one another as educators.
The organization also publicizes the need for bilingual
and bicultural education, setting an example and creating
opportunities to promote community involvement and
advocacy of bicultural/bilingual education. Membership
is open to anyone who wishes to learn about and advocate
for bilingual/bicultural education.

consists of a maximum of 10 female and 10 male yell
leaders. Tryouts or auditions are held in the spring

& Debate - The forensics
club offers students the opportunity to increase their
public speaking and interpretation skills through the
preparation and presentation of forensics materials
to a variety of audiences throughout the school year.

Latin Heat Dance Club- This
spicy new dance club allows sudents to learn the hot
new Latin dances of today. Dances include salsa, merengue,
cumbia, hip-hop and more. Latin Heat dancers get a

Judging Team - Students
on the meats team participate in a series of Intercollegiate
Meats judging contest conducted annually at processing
facilities around the country. Collegiate meats judging

Newman Club - The Catholic
college student organization whose primary purpose
is to help develop the religious and intellectual life
of the college student. The club is open to all interested

Phi
Theta Kappa - The international honor society
for two-year colleges promotes scholarship, fellowship,
and service for students who are invited to membership.
Students who earn a 3.5 - 4.0 cumulative grade
point average and who have completed twelve hours
toward a degree program are invited to membership
each semester. Active chapter members participate
in the Honors Study, chapter social activities,
and service projects for the campus and community.
Opportunities are also available for participation
in activities with other chapters and on the state
and national level. Members of the Alpha Xi Upsilon
Chapter are recognized at graduation and in several
activities during the year on campus. Phi Theta Kappa members have over forty million dollars of second year and

Membership is composed of residence hall students.
A $25.00 fee is assessed to all residence hall students

Membership is open to any college man or woman who

in or enjoys working with college rodeo. The club sponsors
a local rodeo and participates in rodeos in its circuit

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) -
SIFE has grown to become one of the largest collegiate
organizations in the world. Working together as a team,
SIFE students apply their classroom experiences to

of free enterprise including market economics, entrepreneurship,
personal financial success and business ethics. the
SIFE experience enables college students to reach their
full potential by helping others reach theirs. Students
