TEL and Competition
Team
Tau Epsilon Lambda (TEL) is a campus organization for Criminal Justice
majors. Tied to the national organization, American Criminal Justice Association/Lambda
Alpha Epsilon, the organization advances professionalism. TEL also sponsors
the Criminal Justice Competition Team, which competes on the regional and
national levels in written, crime scene investigation, physical agility
and firearms fields. Team members are selected on the basis of grades,
productivity, involvement in the department and desire to compete and represent
GCCC.
Student Activities:
Students are presented the first day of classes with a wide variety of
opportunities to get involved including:
• Tau Epsilon Lambda (CJ student
organization)
• School mentoring opportunities with the Finney County
Big Brothers-Big Sisters Organization (The CJ department has ‘adopted’ Garfield
Elementary School and assists with a wide variety of activities)
• In-house
seminars and activities for majors.
Competition Team History:
The Criminal Justice Competition Team earned national championships
in 1984, 1990 and 1992. The team has also brought numerous regional championships
and awards to GCCC over the past 20-plus years.
