ABOUT THE COLLEGE, COSTS, LOCATION
Garden City is located in Finney County in southwestern Kansas-known as the beef capital of the world. Finney County has a population of 40,000 residents-30,000 of which live in Garden City and 1/3 of which are minorities. Garden City is less than one hour from the Colorado border and is within a convenient half days drive of such bigger cities as Denver, Wichita, Tulsa, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Omaha and Albuquerque.
Though there are over 25 two year institutions in the state of Kansas, Garden City Community College is the oldest---opening it’s doors in 1919. With that being said, we are a highly competitive public two year institution offering close to 70 degree seeking majors. The college offers an excellent educational atmosphere that has an all around academic resource center that includes free tutoring and student support services.
Annual enrollment is roughly 2,000 students-300 of which live on campus. Approximately 30 percent of GCCC students are from minority backgrounds, the largest of which is Hispanic.
The cost of in-state tuition and fees is $62 per credit hour. Out-of-state tuition and fees are $86 per credit hour. GCCC offers on-campus housing and dining. Living quarters include traditional dormitory-style rooms, residential units and on-campus apartments. Room and board per semester ranges from $2,100 to $2,700 depending on accommodation choice. Financially, the overall expense to attend GCCC for one school year is well below the national average.
Athletic tuition/book scholarships are available for both programs. Academic Aid can be awarded on top of these tuition/book scholarships.
