Dan “Delgo” Delgado begins his fourth season for Buster Cross Country. In his first three seasons “Coach Delgo” produced 15 All-Americans, 7 athletically and 8 academically. His 2007 women’s team placed 11th athletically in the NJCAA, and his men’s team 13th nationally. In the NJCAA poll his women's finished 9th academically and his men's team finished number one, with a team GPA of 3.76.
Delgo’s Busters are hard-nosed kids that train, study and race hard. “I believe that student-athletes from any generation have to focus mentally, physically, and spiritually. Mentally they have to study hard, physically they have to train hard, and spiritually they have to live life to its fullest. It’s these three things that make coaching young adults challenging yet very rewarding for me. My athletes have to be on time and work very hard. If you can’t do these two things then you can’t be a Buster” stated Delgado.
Coach Delgado reigns from Springview, Nebraska and was a 3 sport athlete, football, basketball, and track at Keya Paha County High School. He played collegiate basketball at the University of South Dakota Springfield and triple jumped as well.
Coach Delgado is no stranger to endurance training. He has competed in triathlons, biathlons, road races, and is an avid bicycler. He ran distance in high school for Lou Graesser who currently is the head track and field coach for Lawrence High School in Lawrence Nebraska.
