GCCC Cheerleading - Tryout Information

 

Tryouts: Spring 2009

Friday 6-8pm

Saturday 9-11am

Sunday 9-12pm 

 

Tryouts will be a three-day process.  The materials required to perform will be taught at a two-day clinic.  The third day will be tryouts.  You will be judged on stunts, appearance, jumps, voice projection, motions, and overall spirit/fitness by a panel of 2-3 judges. 

 

Tumbling is not required but can be performed for extra points.  Mats will not be available for tumbling. Candidates must be comfortable with any skill they attempt to perform on a basketball floor without a spotter.

 

Tryout Requirements:

Females: 

Must have some cheerleading experience, must perform a cheer, sideline, dance, 3 jumps (toe touch, pike, & optional jump), and two to three different stunts. 

Preferred (but not required) – advanced stunts and basic to advanced tumbling

 

Males:

Experience is not necessary.  Must perform a cheer; sideline; 2 jumps (pike, toe touch), and basic stunts.

Preferred (but not required) – advanced stunts and basic to advanced tumbling

 

Tryout Attire:

GCCC’s colors are Brown and Yellow Gold. 

It is recommended, but not required, that you wear Brown, Gold or White or a combination of those colors on the first two days.  Former cheerleaders trying out should NOT wear anything that says GCCC Cheerleading!

On the third day, everyone is required to wear black.

 

Females: 

Day 1: T-shirt/Soffee shorts, bloomers or boy shorts underneath, socks/shoes, hair in ponytail (no bangs) with ribbon.

Day 2: same as day 1

Day 3 (tryouts): Black Sports Bra (doubled)/Black Soffee shorts; bloomers or boy shorts underneath shorts, socks/shoes, hair half up/down with ribbon (no bangs).

 

Males:

Day 1 & 2: t-shirt/basketball shorts, socks/shoes

Day 3: Black t-shirt/black basketball shorts, socks/shoes
