Chris Finnegan was named the head baseball coach at Garden City in October 2005 after serving one season as an assistant coach.  During Finnegan's first year as head coach he led the Busters to a 34-22 mark, which earned them 4th place in the Jayhawk West Conference.  Over the last two seasons Coach Finnegan has seen his players move on to Nebraska, Kansas, Charleston Southern, Creighton, Southeastern Louisiana, and many more highly regarded programs.

 

Coach Finnegan began his coaching career as an assistant at Peru State College, in Peru, Nebraska .  He has also coached in the MINK League with the Chillicothe Mudcats and with the Mat Su Miners of the Alaskan League.

 

Finnegan, originally from Omaha, began his college playing career at Hutchinson Community College.  During the summer of 1998, Chris played for the Liberal Bee Jay's.  Finnegan transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a starting catcher for two seasons in Conference USA.  During the summer of 1999, Finnegan played for the Hyannis Mets of the prestigious Cape Code League.  After completing his collegiate career, Finnegan went on to play three years professionally, splitting time with the Schaumburg (IL) Flyers and Adirondack (NY) Lumberjacks of the independent Northern League.

 

Coach Finnegan graduated with a degree of Sports Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi .
