Mike Dudley was named assistant baseball coach at Garden City Community College in the summer of 2008. Coach Dudley will be in charge of infielders as well as helping with the hitters for the Busters this year. Dudley comes to Garden City from Lawrence, Kansas where he spent the last year teaching and coaching in the Lawrence School District.
Coach Dudley began his coaching career at the University of Kansas where he served as the student assistant working with first basemen. That year’s team won the Big XII tournament and played in the Corvallis, Oregon regional. After that he moved on to Blue Valley West High School in Overland Park, KS where he served as an assistant coach on Bill McDonald’s staff. That team went on to win the 2007 6A state championship. Coach Dudley has also spent the past summers as the head coach of Connie Mack teams in Colorado and Arizona. He most recently served as an assistant coach with the Amsterdam Mohawks of the New York Collegiate Baseball league.Dudley, originally from Pueblo, CO began his playing career for the Busters where he played first base from 2002-2003. He spent the summer of 2003 playing for the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods league. After Garden City, Dudley transferred to the University of Kansas where he played from 2004-2005. The Jayhawk teams that Dudley was a part of posted back to back 30 win seasons and made the Big XII tournament in 2005.
Coach Dudley graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from KU in 2006 and will finish his Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through KU in the fall of 2008. He is engaged to Abby Schwind of Overland Park, KS and will get married in July of 2009.
