Learner Success
Communication
o The Welding Advisory committee met during the fall semester and indicated that they are well-satisfied with the direction and success of the program.
o Promotional efforts produced full classes for both fall and spring semesters.
o Several companies in the community help support the program with the donation of steel and other items.
Responsive to Community and Students
o Utilized student and advisory questionnaires to improve learning opportunities
Helping Students Learn
o Continue to identify and serve industry-specific training needs.
o Develop an Open Entry/Open Exit competency-based learning program.
o Develop Special Topics online courses (Shielded Metal @ $600 for development)
o Develop on-line web-site for students to access welding/certification information and testing
Leading and Communicating
o Continue to update lab/ facility adding learning opportunities related to industry. Weld pipeline workstation:
Ranger generator driven welder $2500; Pipeline jig clamps and setup $1000
o Allow opportunities for instructor in-services on weld testing equipment previously purchased.
Budget allocation needed: $1,000 to cover the cost of instructor training on Non destructive Testing equipment.
o Encourage potential adjunct instructors to take AWS entry level welder certification course training.
Planning Continuous Improvement
o Continue to promote the AWS Welding classes to high school students, industry employees, students enrolled at the FCCLC and across the outreach service area.
o Work with the local One Stop to provide Welding training to dislocated workers.
