ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2003-2004

 

Learner Success

1.     In May 2004, 26 students will have completed or be completing the Cisco curriculum.

2.     In May 2004, 25 students will have completed or be completing the A+ curriculum.

3.     In May 2004, 6 students will have completed or be completing the MCSE curriculum.

4.     A+ test simulation software has been incorporated into coursework to assist students in the preparation for industry certification.

5.     Cisco curriculum has been updated to version 3.1.

 

Communication

1.     Cisco curriculum is now available on the new GCCC web server which allows students to access the curriculum outside of the classroom.

2.     Brochures/flyers and bookmarks were implemented as an added tool to advertise the BSNT program, this will be an ongoing accomplishment.

3.     The Career Learning SystemÕs Web site, borne out of the partnership between GCCC and Garden City & Holcomb High Schools, has been beneficial in advertising the Center Of Excellence and all BSNT program courses.

 

Responsive to Community and Students

1.     BSNT course schedules have been sequenced to meet the needs of our community and students.

2.     A+ and Cisco course meeting times have been changed to meet the needs of the local high schoolsÕ block schedules and community work schedules.

3.     A secure, state-of-the-art classroom was established in the Academic Building for all Cisco and A+ courses, including installation of an Adtran Atlas 550 WAN Emulation Lab and a Wireless network.

 

Faculty and Staff Development

1.     BSNT Program Coordinator successfully obtained his CCAI, CCDA, CCNA, Network +, Security +, and Server + industry certifications.

2.     The evening adjunct instructor obtained his CCAI & CCNA industry certification.

BSNT PROJECTIONS 2006 & BEYOND

 

 

Helping Students Learn

 

1.              CCNA 3.0 Standard Bundle rack mountable 1760 Routers. These routers are needed to upgrade the outdated 2500 routers currently in use. The plan is to replace all ten 2500 routers. With theses new routers students will be able to utilize the new 3.1 curriculum.

 

2.              14 new computers for the Cisco/A+ lab. The current PCÕs in B144 are over 4 years old and are beginning to fail regularly. Theses old computers can be utilized as upgrades for the A+ students, who desperately need PCÕs that are of newer technology to work on. This would be accomplishing two goals at the same time.

Planning Continuous Improvement

 

Training for BSNT instructors in the Linux Operating System, Microsoft Server software, MCSE, Cisco, A+, Network+, Server+, and Security+.

 

Leading and Communicating

 

1.     Expanding BSNT curriculum by offering Network+, Server+ and/or Security + in the future. Approximate cost would be upwards of $5,000.00.

 

2.     Expanding instruction of network operating system software to include Linux Operating System.
