Supporting Documentation for
2004-2005
Prioritized
list of New Personnel, Expanded Positions, or Position Transfers with
Justification and Budget:
- Acquire another work study
position (10 hours)
- The rodeo team takes complete
care of their own facilities, therefore, as the team is growing the
amount of stock that needs feeding and the amount of work that needs done
at the arena and livestock pens exceed the 15 hours a week of work study
time the rodeo team currently has.
- Hire assistant coach (pay would
be consistent with other assistants).
- The rodeo team currently
brings in a sufficient amount of students to warrant the hiring of an
assistant coach. Future goals of increasing the size of the team
and possibly relocating the current practice facilities, due to lack of
space, would justify this addition of personnel.
Prioritized
Equipment Requests with Justification:
o Our current tractor is about to
outlive its usefulness. Having stock to take care of requires regular
feedings everyday with the use of a tractor. It is difficult to feed the
stock in a timely manner when the tractor is regularly on the blitz.
o The rodeo team must maintain the
current horse & cattle pens as well as the rodeo arena. Fences need
to be fixed in order to keep them safe for the livestock and athletes, as well
as looking nice for visitors to our town. Currently the rodeo team does
not have any way to fix up the facilities because we do not have a portable
welder.
o The welder could also be used by
other departments on campus, such as maintenance, welding dept, É
- Arena Rain Sprinkler - $5,000
o Due to the severe drought that we
have experienced the area in the last few years, we hardly ever have ideal
ground conditions for practice. Poor ground condition makes it unsafe for
athletes and stock. Not to mention, the dust is unbearable at times.
- VCR and Video Camera - $600
o Our current video camera is not
worthy of being a part of this rodeo team. A better camera is needed for
evaluation of practice and competition. The same goes for the VCR.
Prioritized
List of New Projects with Justification and Budget:
- Explore the idea of relocating
the rodeo team office to the gymnasium.
o The current rodeo office is to small
to adequately seat a recruit and his/her parents. A film and meeting room
is needed as well. This move would increase communication and enhance a
better working relationship between the rodeo coach and the rest of the
athletic department staff.
o A larger office area would
definitely be necessary if an assistant coach was ever to be hired.
- Acquire new rodeo team
facilities.
o We have out grown our current
location; the fairgrounds will not let us expand anymore. We need to
build more stalls to accommodate more students. If we had a place with
some grass for the stock to graze, we could possibly cut down on the amount of
feed required; as well as cut down on the sickness of the animals. Having
our own facility would give us more flexibility in scheduling our rodeo,
practices, and other events; as well as cut down on expenditures of leasing the
current facility.
o This could possibly be arranged
through a land grant to the college.
o A partnership could possibly be
formed between the rodeo team and the Beef Empire Days rodeo committee.
o This could be a partnership with the
animal science division to attain the school farm that is much needed.
Projections 2005 Š Beyond
- Have a team finish the season
ranked as one of the top two teams in the region.
- Send a team to the College
National Finals Rodeo.
- New trailer - $10,000
o I am able to get by with the current
trailer for right now, but the structure is weakening and the appearance is
commented on by many people.
o I use my personal pickup many times
because the current pickup is not powerful enough to handle the loads I
pull. Maintenance and other departments on campus utilize this pickup
often, and there are times when it is in high demand by everyone.
