ATHLETIC RETENTION

 

Accomplishments 2002-2003

 

            Incorporation of School Maestro program into regular retention efforts including

            Attendance and grade checks

           

            Continued working with coaches, faculty, and staff concerning

the attendance and attitude of the student athletes.

 

Conducted weekly attendance checks and grade checks every 4-5 weeks

and reported the results to specific coaches/supervisors.     

 

            Assisted coaches with problems concerning individual student-athletes such

as classroom behavior, class enrollment, schedule changes, graduation requirements, adding/dropping classes, applications for graduation, etc.

 

            16 Academic All-Americans

 

Goals 2004-2005

 

            Continue using School Maestro system with adjustments on timing to make

grade and attendance checks more accurate and efficient.

 

            Increase contact time with student athletes to provide insight on how to succeed

in the classroom.

 

All student athletes eligible for entire school year.

 

Greater understanding of School Maestro program and how it can help retention.

 

15 Academic All-Americans

 

Projections for 2005 and beyond

 

            Improve cooperation of individuals currently involved in the retention efforts.

 

            Continue with quarterly grade checks and weekly attendance checks.

 

Inform coaches on changes in graduation requirements and other academic policies and procedures as they occur.

 

 

NEEDS: I am currently using the softball programÕs printer and it is about to permanently quit working. Due to the number of reports printed in retention efforts, a separate printer is requested. The cost would be between $150-300.
