GOALS 2004-2005

 

Learner Success                              

 

1. Complete the Program Review.

2. Complete Science Competencies.

3. Complete Planning Document.

4. Continue participating in Edukan.

5. Continue providing professional support in CLC.

6. Serve as judges in the high school science fair.

7. Individual multi-media carts with ability to run power point, including an ELMO device.

8. Recruit and Coach Academic Challenge Team.

9. Smart Classroom in Science Lecture Hall.

10. Faculty learn and utilize School Maestro Grade Book Program.

11. Develop and strengthen contacts (connection) between new faculty and The Teaching and Learning Center.

12. Develop plan for regular replacement of classroom overhead projectors.

13.   Develop guidelines/requirements for dual credit course offerings in sciences.

14.   Mentor adjuncts in outreach locations.

15.   Maintain quality learning environment in spite of budget shortfall.

16.   Host mini-regional HAPS Conference on Campus.

17.   Maintain high quality course offerings by providing quality teachers with appropriate supplies and equipment.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR 2004-2005 GOALS

 

 

1. ¥ Hire a lab coordinator who can train laboratory assistants to set up labs, help with ordering lab supplies and equipment and facilitate the instructors. ($25,000); will allow more Òcreative think timeÓ to develop new courses and adapt teaching methods such as using case study approach, cross-discipline offerings, etc.

2. ¥ Secretarial assistance in summer ($3000)

3. ¥ Receive more work- study hours for science lab positions

¥ Hire someone to write grants

 

 

4. ¥ New desks for 6 inside classrooms ($2400)

6. ¥ New chairs for micro lab ($1500)

7. ¥ Campus information channel in the building in addition to cable TV hooked up

already present. TV/VCR with cable in the front office to record informational programs for instruction.

9. ¥ Smart classroom in Science Lecture Hall ($17,000)

10. ¥ Purchase new microscopes (24) ($18000)

¥ Kenavision - Videoscope - successfully acquired one (1) through Service Learning Grant

 

 

¥ Maintenance in labs and building needs to be better and more timely.

¥ The locks need worked on and handles on drawers and electrical wiring. Many other items are in need of maintenance attention.

¥ Repair cement stairs in Lecture Halls and all classrooms.

¥ Repaint walls and modesty panels on desks in some classrooms.

¥ Repair and improve the ventilation system for interior classrooms in the building.

¥ Provide additional office space so that no office will have more than two people.

¥ Enlarge greenhouse.

¥ Renovate and update current science labs; beginning with C111.

¥ Develop lab study room for students to utilize materials outside of scheduled lab times.

¥ Building locks repaired.

¥ Entry vestibule area developed to assist with climate control.

5. ¥ Construct display cases for hallway and lecture hall to display minerals and student's astronomy models. ($1,000-$2,000)

8. ¥ Develop and construct a Frisbee golf course through cooperation with city parks, GC Recreation Commission, and corporate sponsorship. (approximately $150/hole)
