                                    Learner Success

á      Purchased and implemented Key Train to evaluate and improve job seekers skills that determined areas that need enhancement for workplace success

á      FCCLC and WKOS received $18,000.00 from SBC to purchase Wireless Laptop Mobile Lab

á      Completed partnership with BSIC in developing modular Office Technology program that offers flexible training to One Stop customers

 

                                    Strengthening College Processes

á      2003 Kansas Award for Excellence Commitment to Quality Award Recipient

á      WKOS received re-certification with no conditions

á      Implemented on-line customer surveys in English and Spanish at www.westernkansasonestop.org

á      Improved partner awareness of satisfaction surveys and impact of data gathering for One Stop activities

á      Developed new brochures for Adult, Youth, Dislocated Worker and Business Advisory Council

á      Established Western Kansas One Stop Business Advisory Council

 

                                    Service to the Community

á      Implemented the WKOS Accessibility Team to serve in an advisory capacity to policies and services for people with disabilities

á      Provided expanded services to customers in Dodge City and Liberal that included Job Search and Job Retention Workshops

á      Established partnership with Social and Rehabilitation Services to provide Work Readiness Workshops and Job Retention Case Management

á      3,255 customers have been served through the Western Kansas One Stop Partnership since July 1, 2003

á      156 referrals have been made to community service providers in Garden City, Dodge City, and Liberal

á      Western Kansas One Stop Partners have provided 1,165 individual services to customers in southwest Kansas

á      Six Workforce Investment Act Case Managers have provided funding for training activities to 36 One Stop customers through Garden City Community College, Dodge City Community College, Seward County Community College and Southwest Kansas Technical School

á      Western Kansas One Stop Website has received 1,054 hits since July 1, 2003

Strategic Priorities:

                        Helping Students Learn

á      Develop written materials for a Job Search Workbook, Resume Writing Workbook, and Interviewing Workbook

á      Support implementation of Key Train

á      Pursue Endowment grant or other funding to purchase Workplace Essential Skills Program

á      Partner with FCCLC to provide Work Readiness Classes for Adult Learners

á      Serve 24 SRS Clientele through the SRS Service Provider Agreement

á      Partner with B & I to establish job search, resume writing, and interviewing seminars

á      Expand services to youth, seniors, and people with disabilities

á      Increase outreach to serve small rural communities

 

                                          Leading and Communicating

á      Provide input to the selection and hiring of the Dean of Continuing Education and Community Services

á      Partner with B&I and SBDC to conduct a Business Needs Assessment to identify the needs of our business communities

á      Continue to collaborate with SRS on providing employment related services to clientele

á      Identify and recruit community members for the Business Advisory Council

á      Implement Business Advisory Council bi-monthly meetings

á      Provide on-campus awareness of the One Stop using presentations and media tools

á      Address funding issues by developing Òfee-for-serviceÓ activities

á      Market services of the One Stop to community service providers, businesses, and other organizations

á      Support Datatel transition and use

á      Use the Kansas Award of Excellence Feedback Report to provide continuous improvement of One Stop activities

á      Continue to meet quarterly with Strategic Planning Committee for monitoring of One Stop performance

á      Attend Kansas Award for Excellence 2004 Recognition Program Workshop Announcement

á      Apply for Kansas Award of Excellence Level 2 Certificate of Commitment Award

á      Continue to develop and update the WKOS Web Site using customer feedback

á      Continue to research and review best practices in other states

á      Use data-analysis for continuous improvement, promotion and funding
