LADY BUSTERS RECEIVE THIRD GARDEN CITY COMMITMENT
Irma Reyes, a 2007 graduate of Garden City High School, has become the third Garden City commitment for the Fall 2007 season.
Reyes was born in El Salvador and lived there until the age of 11, when she then moved directly to Garden City. Reyes has been a four year varsity player for Coach Joaquin Padilla and the Buffaloes at Garden City High School. She was an Honorable Mention All-WAC performer as a junior, where she was part of the team that made it to the Region Finals. Reyes played as a midfielder her freshman/sophomore seasons, moving to the stopper position for her junior and senior campaigns.
Reyes has had much success at the local club level, where she has won four straight summer championships. Reyes plays her club soccer in the Southwest Kansas Adult League, where she won a post season championship in 2003 with Latinas. In 2004 and 2005, she won a regular season and post season championship with GC United. In the summer of 2006, she won a regular season and post season championship with Cobras.
Head Women's Soccer Coach Jeff Huffman states, “Irma has a strong work rate on the pitch and is one that likes to put a body on people. Irma can play either the holding midfield or outside midfield role, as she will be in the mix for playing time from the outset.”
