LADY BUSTERS GET FIRST COLORADO COMMITMENT FOR 07'

Allisa Vandenburg- a 5'11 left footed striker out of Elizabeth, CO has become the fourth commitment and first from the state of Colorado for the Fall 2007 season. Coach Huffman became aware of her through an email contact and invited her to Women's Soccer Recruiting weekend in November. The rest-as they say-is history.

Vandenburg is a three year varsity starter and letter winner going into her senior campaign. She has been employed as both a midfielder and forward at Elizabeth High School , a high school located 50 miles southeast of Denver and has a student body population of about 800 students. Her junior season was her most offensively prolific to date, recording 10 goals. She also spent the fall of her senior year with the Colorado Starz club team.

“Allisa will give us a tall presence in the box on set pieces,” Head Women's Coach Jeff Huffman states. She is a natural left footed player, which is always nice to have regardless of position. Her versatility will allow me to put her in either the forward or a midfield role. Regardless, she will be counted on to get behind defenders and either put the ball in the back of the net or create dangerous scoring opportunities for us.”

Colorado native Brooke Lindholm, a four year varsity starter representing Aurora 's1,700 student Gateway High School , has becomethe fifth commitment before February 1st for the Lady Buster soccer program.

Lindholm has played in a variety of positions during her high school career, earning Team MVP of Defense during the spring 2005 season. Lindholm played the U-16 thru U-18 age levels for the Colorado Storm White club team. The team has competed in the Colorado Premier 1 fall league for the last 3 seasons, earning 4 th place out of 11 teams during the fall 2006 campaign. At the U-17 age level, the Storm won the gold bracket of the very competitive Fort Collins Arsenal Cup.

Lindholm also is coming to Garden City to compete for the institution's debate team, which in under leadership of Coach Mark Jarmer.

“Brooke is comfortable playing in a wide variety of positions on the pitch,” Head Women's Soccer Coach Jeff Huffman states. I had a chance to see Brooke compete at the Sport Source Showcase in December in the great state of Texas . After seeing her compete against teams of that caliber, I fully expect Brooke to step on the field and be very competitive with the other talent inside of the Jayhawk Conference.”
